Branimir Štrukelj (born March 23, 1957) is a member of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia.

Political Career[edit]

Štrukelj was elected National Councilor as a representative of the employees and he currently holds the position of the Vice-President of the Commission for Culture, Science, Education and Sport within the Council.

Professional Career[edit]

In 1990, he advocated an independent teacher union and is thus one of the initiators of the Education, Science and Culture Trade Union of Slovenia. Since 1996, he is the General Secretary of the SVIZ, between 1997 and 2011; he was a member of the Executive Board Education International. Štrukelj is currently also the President of the Confederation of Public Sector Trade Unions of Slovenia and the Chairman of the Committee of the Closed Mutual Pension Fund for Civil Servants. Between 1994 and 1999 he was the President of KUD France Prešeren.

Education[edit]

Štrukelj graduated in history and art history in 1988 at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana.
