Bart Van Malderen (born in Dendermonde, on November 17, 1973) is a Belgian politician for the Socialist party.

Political career

Following his studies he went to work as an adviser for the workers' union for the socialist party. This job he held out until 2006. In 2000 he took part in the local elections and was elected to the city council of Dendermonde. In 2006 he was re-elected and appointed as alderman in this city. He is the Flemish MP for the constituency of East Flanders since September 2006. Between 2011 and 2014, he was the chair of the political fraction.

Education

Van Malderen studied at the University of Ghent, where he graduated in 1997 as a graduate archeology.
