Gabriele Albertini

Gabriele Albertini was born in Milan on July 1950. He has been a businessman, a national and European politician and mayor of the city of Milan. He was elected for the first with the Party Forza Italia in 1997.

Gabriele graduated in Law in 1974. He became CEO at 'Albertini Cesare Spa', a company working in the aluminium pressure die casting sector (1974-1997). Chairman of the small industry section of Assolombarda (1980-1984); delegate for small business on the executive board of Federmeccanica - the Italian Metal and Mechanical Workers Trade Union Federation (1987); Vice-Chairman of Assolombarda (1993-1997); Chairman of Federmeccanica (1996-1997).

He has been mayor of Milan (1997-2006), government delegate to the City of Milan responsible for waste water purification (since 2000) and for the traffic and transport emergency in that city (2002-2003). He received the Grand Cordon of the Order of Independence of the Kingdom of Jordan; Order of Friendship of the Russian Federation; Honorary Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE); Officer of the Legion of Honour of the French Republic; Knight of the Grand Cross of the Norwegian Royal Order; Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg; Grand Officer of the Order of St Maurice and St Lazarus; Silver Cross of Merit of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem; Cross of the Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Order of Malta; Commander of Merit of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George.
