Arminka Helic

Arminka Helic, the Baroness Helic is a Bosnian-born British Special Adviser (SPAD) and Chief of Staff to the Former British Foreign Secretary William Hague.

Political Career[edit]

Helic fled to the UK during the Balkan conflict of the 1990s and has worked for the Conservatives since 1999 as a defence adviser to a succession of shadow secretaries of state including Michael Ancram, Iain Duncan Smith, Bernard Jenkin and Nicholas Soames. In 2014, Arminka Helic was appointed to the House of Lords by the Prime Minister, David Cameron. Lady Helic will be the third Conservative Muslim woman peer. She was created a Life Peer on 18 September 2014 taking the title Baroness Helic, of Millbank in the City of Westminster.

Education[edit]

Baroness Helic was educated at the University of Sarajevo and the London School of Economics.
