Daniela Filipiová was born on August 9, 1957, in Prague. She is a Czech politician and architect. She currently holds the office of Senator of the Senate. From January to May 2009, she was the Minister of Health. She had a neurological surgery in 1986, after which she is confined to a wheelchair.

Education

In 1982, she studied architecture at the Technical University. In the field of architecture she pays particular attention to projecting of barrier-free accesses. She wrote on the subject books "Life Without Barriers", "Creating a barrier-free environment" and "Projects without barriers".

Political career

In 1997 she joined the the ODS Party. Since 2000 she is a member of the Senate, meets in the Committee on Health and Social Policy. In 2009 she held the post of Minister of Health in the government of Mirek Topolánek. In 2012 she retained her senatorial mandate.
