Supporting Sport[edit]

The Deutsche Telekom Group supports a vast range of athletes, clubs, associations and events in Germany. Due to the extreme popularity of soccer in Germany, their primary focus is on this sport and they have established high profile partnerships. Deutsche Telekom is partner of the German women’s, men’s and youth national teams, as well as the main sponsor of champion FC Bayern Munich and of many other national football teams. They are furthermore involved in sales and content collaborations with other teams from the German National Soccer League and organizes the Telekom Cup, “a pre-season tournament in which top German teams compete for the first silverware of the season, giving fans the chance to watch new signings for the first time and see how their club is shaping up for the coming campaign” (Deutsche Telekom 2014). In supporting youth sports, school sports projects and athletes with disabilities through multiple partnerships, Deutsche Telekom focuses on the social aspects of sport. The Group has established partnerships with the German Olympic Association (DOSB) and the German Disability Sports Association (DBS). In addition, they sponsor the Telekom Baskets Bonn and the Bonn marathon.

Supporting Music and Visual Arts[edit]

As an international communications company, the Deutsche Telekom Group aims to use its products, services and innovative technology to provide more access to music. The company cooperates with partners from the national and international music scene, bringing fans more music through more channels. In addition, musical events such as the “Telekom Street Gigs” have brought an eclectic range of live music experiences to an audience of around 40,000 music lovers. The “Electronic Beats” website has furthermore established an international music community that supports live events. As the main sponsor of the Beethovenfest in Bonn and the “International Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn”, Deutsche Telekom also promotes classical music. In 2010, Deutsche Telekom initiated a respected corporate art collection called Art Collection Telekom (ACT). The main focus of the collection rests on contemporary work by artists from Eastern and South Eastern Europe as well as Turkey, and attempts to respond to social and political changes after the fall of the Iron Curtain. In doing so, it promotes a wider understanding of Europe's cultural diversity through the visual arts. The aim is to represent a concentrated spectrum of contemporary art from this cultural sphere. Various artworks from the Art Collection Telekom have been on display at international exhibitions. With this initiative, Deutsche Telekom is helping and supporting young artists to continue their work. T-Mobile Polska – Deutsche Telekom’s presence in Poland – is one of the best-known sponsors of major cultural, sports, educational, and charity initiatives worldwide. An example of one of these important projects are the “T-Mobile New Horizons” film festival, the sponsorship of top-class “T-Mobile Ekstraklasa” football matches, and the “Pomoc Mierzona Kilometrami” CR project. Activities in the Field of Humanitarian Aid[edit]

Deutsche Telekom furthermore supports aid organizations free of charge and in an unbureaucratic way, since natural disasters and personal tragedies require fast, direct help. The aid the company provides ranges from immediate aid and reconstruction assistance after disasters such as tsunamis, earthquakes and hurricanes, to bone marrow donations and telephone hotlines. Deutsche Telekom has furthermore matched the sum that their employees have donated to the victims of the 2010 Haiti earthquake for immediate aid and reconstruction. In addition, after the recent catastrophe in Japan, the Deutsche Telekom Group arranged for its customers and aid organizations in Germany to communicate with Japan for free. By organizing its activities in line with the [1] Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, Deutsche Telekom is committed to respect, promote and implement Human Rights. This respect for human rights is embedded in the company’s Code of Conduct. Deutsche Telekom will furthermore keep contributing and taking steps in order to ensure worldwide promotion of human rights. The Group recently launched a project in developing a mobile application to improve healthcare for pregnant women in Kenya.
