Dionysia - Theodora Avgerinopoulou was born in Patras in 1975. She is a Greek politician and lawyer.

Political Career

Elected MP with New Democracy in the general election of 2009.

Education

J.S.D. (Ph.D.) in Public International Law, Environmental and Climate Change Law, and International Institutions Law at the Columbia University School of Law. LL.M. in International Legal Studies, with distinction, and the Dean’s Certificate for Outstanding Services to the Law Center Community. Bachelor’s Degree in Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with distinction. He speaks English, French and German.


Notable Work

Researcher at the Center for Climate Change Law, Columbia University School of Law, New York, N.Y., international leader for the establishment of a Climate Change Center for the Mediterranean and the Middle East, Member of the Editorial Boards of the Columbia Journal of Environmental Law and the Columbia Journal of European Law, president of the Columbia University Hellenic Association (2004 - 2006). Ms. Avgerinopoulou is also one of the founding members of the European Union of Electoral Law, special advisor to the Hellenic Biosciences Association in the USA and a member of the American Society of International Law, the European Society of International Law, the European Women Lawyers Association and Inten-Synergy, as well as of many other non-governmental organization.
