== About Enagas ==
Engagas, founded in 1972 by the Spanish government, is the main company for the transportation of natural gas in Spain and the Technical Manager of the [http://www.edp.pt/en/aedp/sectordeenergia/gasnaiberia/Pages/SistemaGasEspanha.aspx Spanish Gas System]. Consequently, Enagas‘ main mission is to guarantee competivity and security of the Gas System in Spain. Furthermore, since 2012, Enagas was certified as an independent Transmission System Operator (TSO) by the European Union, meaning it became included within the gas transmission network operators of other countries belonging to the EU. Enagas accounts for approximately 11,000 km of pipelines within Spain’s territory, three underground storage facilities located in Serrablo (Huesca), Gaviota (Vizcaya) and Yela (Guadalajara), and four regasification plants: Barcelona, Huelva, Cartagena and Gijón. Since a hive-down operation undertaken in 2012, Enagas remains established by Enagás Transporte S.A.U., Enagás GTS S.A.U., Enagás Internacional S.L.U. and Enagás Financiaciones S.A.U., as main subsidiaries.
In 2013, the company acquired 90% of Naturgas Energía Transporte, Adding to its facilities 450 km of high pressure pipelines and the Irún international connection. Naturgás Energía Transporte is now called Enagás Transporte del Norte, S.A.U. In 2013 it had 1,149 employees and its net income for the trailing twelve months (TTM) which ended in September 2014 was $547 mil.
Enagas later engaged its activities internationally in particular after 2011 when it became a shareholder of TLA Altamira regasification plant in Mexico. One year later, Enagas expanded its activities to Chile, where it acquired a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal in Quintero. In March 2014, Enagas acquired 20% of Transportadora de Gas del Perú (TgP) and purchased 30% of Compañía Operadora de Gas del Amazonas (Coga). In July 2014, the consortium consisting of Enagás and Odebrecht was awarded the project for the South Peru Gas Pipeline. In September 2014, the company joined Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) project, in which it holds a 16% stake.
Finally, in terms of shareholding, the company has two major institutional shareholders with a 5% share each: Sepi and Oman Oil Company S.A.O.C. Enagás is one of the Spanish stock market companies with highest free float (90%). Finally, Enagas is one of the 35 companies that make up the Ibex 35 index.

Since its origins Enagas is devoted to promoting the best environment and opportunities for the professional development of all their employees. Enagas had 1,149 employees in 2013. Since the company’s enlargement towards Latin America, its workforce has significantly increased. According to the company, in 2013 it increased its workforce by 2.77% over the previous year and in recent years has been one of the companies that has continued to create jobs. In addition, Enagas expects to increase their number of workers after recently joining the [http://www.tap-ag.com/ Trans Adriatic Pipeline]’s project.

In 2014 there were a total of 16 people hired through an internship. This type of contract aims to procure workers who’s professional practice is appropriate to the level of education attained.

===Grants And Scholarships ===
There are a total of 46 people undergoing scholarships or practices in the firm profile including: industrial engineers, chemical engineers, mining engineers, graduates in Environmental Sciences, economists, psychologists, licensed in Journalism, etcetera. Enagás also has a program of Young Graduates associated with regasification plants for which the company recently incorporated in 2014 three people on staff (Barcelona, Cartagena and Huelva).
One of Enagas’ main projects is the collaboration with the Instituto Barcelona de Estudios Internationales (IBEI). Enagas and IBEI offer two partial tuition fee grants for the MA in International Security and for the MA in International Relations in order to educate future professionals in the field of international relations and security studies.

Enagas has agreements with various Spanish universities and for years  has collaborated with the University Enterprise Foundation in different graduate programs that combine training at the Autonomous University with unpaid internship in the company.

Enagás has been a member of the [https://www.unglobalcompact.org/ United Nations Global Compact], an ethical commitment initiative that encourages companies worldwide to incorporate into their strategy and operations ten universal principles concerning human rights, labour standards, the environment and the fight against corruption since 2003. 
Enagás carries out most of its activities in Spain, where no major operations have been identified that could constitute violations of human rights. In recent years the company has acquired assets outside of Spain, in countries (Mexico, Chile and Peru) where human rights are a relevant issue. This means that, as part of its due diligence process, Enagás is introducing procedures to assess the impact on human rights of any potential business partners and assets that could be of interest to the company. Enagás will continue to work on fostering mechanisms and tools to ensure compliance with human rights, focusing on employment rights and the rights of local communities, on the basis of the assessment of the UN Framework and Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (Ruggie Framework).

=== Activities in the Field of Humanitarian Aid ===
Enagas offers their employees to participate in a variety of volunteering initiatives. In 2013, Enagas achieved a 8,5% employee participation in volunteer work, mainly in the environmental sector. Enagas collaborated and donated money to the ‘[http://www.caritas.es/qhacemos_campanas_info.aspx?Id=602 Cáritas ante la Crisis]’ programme, shaped and built their ‘Development of the Volunteer Portal’ in association with the ‘[http://hazloposible.org/wp/portada/ Hazloposible]’ Foundation and also opened a cooperation agreement with the [http://www.fundacionjuanxxiii.org/ Juan XXIII Foundation] to enable mentally disabled students to take up work placements at Enagas. 
Last June, 2014, a total of 17 employees of Enagas participated in the [http://www.fundaciondelvalle.org/en/what-we-do/voluntariado/voluntariado-corporativo.html Corporate Volunteering Program of Fundación del Valle], training 200 students from the ‘[http://sofie.org/schools/international/?schoolid=396&detail=1 Beata Filipina School]’ in solidary values in the frame of the [http://www.un.org/millenniumgoals/ UN Millenium Development Goals]. Particularly goal 1 (eradicate extreme poverty and hunger); goal 2 (achieve universal primary education); goal 3 (promote gender equality and empower women) and goal 7 (ensure environment sustainability). 
Enagas’ commitment in relation to climate change and to the reduction of greenhouse gases grows every year. Since 2011 the company has set up an internal multidisciplinary working group which monitors emissions on a monthly basis, identifi es improvement initiatives and reviews its compliance with the objective of reducing emissions, which has an effect on the variable remuneration of all employees. In addition, Enagas runs projects on decreasing noise emissions. Furthermore, as part of its Environmental Monitoring Programme, the company checks discharges of waste water from domestic use and water returned to the sea from regasification plants.
