Stavros Evagorou was born in Famagusta in 1959. He is a Greek/cypriot politician and Economist.

Political Career

Representative of Famagusta constituency under the banner of AKEL-Left-New Forces since 2001,as well as Deputy Parliamentary Spokesman of Akel -Left-New Forces.He served as Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Crime and on the Fight Against Drugs and Addictive Substances and Head of the delegation of the House to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). Moreover he served as Member of the Nicosia Municipal Council for the period 1991-2001 and Member of the Nicosia Sewage Board, of the Nicosia Water Board, of the board of Eurocypria Airlines Ltd and of the board of Cyprus Airways Ltd.Furthermore he serves as Member of the Central Committee of the Progressive Party of the Working People (AKEL) since 1995 and of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee since 2009.

Education Career

Stavros Evagorou graduated in Economics and he has a MSc in Economics with specialisation in International Economic Relations from the University of Economics, Prague.He speaks English, Polish and Czech.
