Franco Carraro has served the Italian Parliament as Senator for the Emilia Romagna region since 2013. He was born in Padua, Veneto, on December 6th 1939, and he is an Italian sports manager and politician.

Franco Carraro was three times minister of the Italian Republic. From 1989 to 1993 he was the mayor of Rome. In 2013 Franco Carraro was elected senator of the XVII Legislature of the Italian Republic in the constituency of Emilia Romagna for Forza Italia-Popolo della Libertà political group. As a Senator, he is Vice President of the 6th Permanent Commission on Finances and Treasury.
