Giovanni Barozzino has served the Italian Parliament as Senator representing the region Basilicata since 2013. He is a member of the Left Ecology Freedom political party.

Giovanni Barozzino was born in Rionero in Vulture, Basilicata, on October 11th 1974.

Political Career

Before being appointed as Senator, he was a metalworker for Italian car industry Fiat. Fiat fired him and two other workers for hampering the production line during a strike and the episode was at the center of a political controversy. Consequently, in 2012 he was offered by Left Ecology Freedom leader Nichi Vendola the possibility to run for the Senate. He was appointed as Senator for the first time after the February 2013 elections. As a Senator, he is also a member of the 11th Permanent Commission on Labor and Social Security and a member of the Commission of Inquiry on Work-Related Injuries.
