Hans-Peter Bartels

Hans-Peter Bartels (born May 7, 1961) is a german politician and a member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD).

Political Career

Bartels joined the Social Democratic Party in 1979 and became a member of the Bundestag in 1998. He is a a member of the local association and district executive. He is also the Deputy Chairman of the Young Socialists In addition to this, Bartels was equally 1991-1997 Chairman of the SPD district committee from 1991-1997 and from 1995 to 1997, he was the Chairman SPD Regional Committee. He is a Member of the SPD Values ​​Commission.

Education

Bartels obtained his Abitur in 1980 at the Max-Planck-Schule in Kiel. He then studied political science, sociology and ethnology at the University of Kiel. He 1 obtained his Masters degree in 1986 and his Ph.D in 1988 Ph.D.

Notable Work

Along with his political work, Bartels has published many articles in large daily and weekly newspapers, especially on current security issues and democracy. He also has dealt on issues that deal with the role of MPs in the parliamentary democracy. In 1999 he was co-founded a bi-monthly magazine Berlin Republic where he was the first executive editor until 2001, in which he regularly publishes articles. He also published a book in 2005 titled Victory Capitalism (Victory-Kapitalismus). In his book he criticises the existing radical market mainstream in Germany and sets its own social-democratic policy concept. In 2012 he published a social democratic overall view on today's experiences and requirements German defence policy, titled: "We're the good guys".
