Ivan Å uker
Ivan Šuker was born on 12 November 1957 in Gornji Rujani, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is a member of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ; Croatian: Hrvatska demokratska zajednica) and has been a member of the Croatian Parliament (Hrvatski sabor) since 2000. He served as a Croatian Minister of Finance.
Political Career
Šuker obtained his first political post when he was appointed a member of the Executive Council of the Velika Gorica Municipality Assembly in 1990. He was a president of the Velika Gorica Crisis Headquarters during Croatian War of Independence from 1991 to 1992, an external member of the Zagreb City Government from 1993 to 1997, and the Zagreb County Deputy Ruler. In 2000 he got elected to the Croatian Parliament becoming a member of the Finance and Central Budget Committee and a member of the Local and Regional Self-government Committee. In the same year he was elected as a member of the Party Presidency. From 2000 to 2003 he was Mayor of Velika Gorica, Croatia. In 2002 he was elected as a Deputy Chairman of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ). Further, from 2003 to 2010 he served as a Croatian Minister of Finance and from 2009 to 2010 he was the Vice Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Croatia. His fourth mandate in the Croatian Parliament started on 22 December 2011 a chairperson of the Committee on Croats outside the Republic of Croatia, a member of the Finance and Central Budget Committee, a member of the Committee on the Economy, and a member of the Supervisory Board of the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
Education
Šuker graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Zagreb in 1983.
