Lucio Malan

Lucio Malan is an Italian professor and party leader. He was born in Luserna San Giovanni, Torino, Piemonte, on July 30th 1960. He has served the Italian Parliament as Senator representing the region Piemonte since 2013.

Education[edit]

After completing high school in 1979, he graduated in Literature (classical philology) at the University of Turin in 1983. In the Eighties he worked as a teacher and vice headmaster at the Waldensian High School in Torre Pellice. In the Nineties, Malan was a foreign exchange broker in the dealing room of Sanpaolo Banking Institute.

Political Career[edit]

Lucio Malan was elected senator in 2001, in 2006 and 2008. He has been a member of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into the implementation of the cooperation policies with the developing countries. He has been supervisor of numerous bills and is strongly engaged on the issues of security, immigration, human rights and religious freedom. Lucio Malan was elected senator of the XVII Legislature of the Italian Republic in the constituency of Piemonte in Forza Italia-Popolo della Libertà political group. As a Senator, he was appointed member of the 5th Permanent Commission on Budgetary Policies. He is also member of the Parliamentary Committee for Prosecuting.
