Luigi Manconi has served the Italian Parliament as a Senator representing the region Sardegna since 2013. He is a member of the Democratic Political Party.

Luigi Manconi was born in Sassari, Sardegna, on February 21st 1948.

Political Career

He was appointed as Senator for the first time after the 1994 elections. In that year he belonged to the Green Political Party. He was reelected with the same party until the 2001. He was reelected also after the elections of February 2013, but this time with the Democratic Political Party. He is also a member of the 4th Permanent Commission on Defence and President of the Extraordinary Committee for the Protection and Promotion of the Human Rights.

Education

He holds a degree in Political Sciences. He works as a journalist, a music critic and a sociologist. He is also a university professor at the IULM university in Milan.
