Martin Burkert (born October 14, 1964) is a german politician and a member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD).

Political Career[edit]

Burkert became a Member of the SPD in May 1985 and has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2005. He has been the local committee chairman in Nuremberg-Brick in 1997 and in 2004. He was a member of the Nuremberg sub-district board from 2003-2009. He is currently the Deputy Chairman of the SPD Bavaria. He equally is the railway commissioner of the SPD parliamentary group and the Chairman of the Bavarian group in the SPD parliamentary group since of 2010.

Education[edit]

After completing his High School education, Burkert started an apprenticeship at the Deutsche Bahn. He entered military service 1987-1988.
