Editing Rita Margaret Donaghy

Rita Margaret Donaghy, Baroness Donaghy CBE, FRSA (born 9 October 1944) is a British university admin-istrator, trade unionist and Labour life peer in the House of Lords.

== Political Career ==

Baroness Donaghy was created a Lord on the 26th June 2010. Whilst in Parliament she has been on a number of committees including the Personal Service Companies between 2013-14 and the Information Committee from 2014 to present, a committee of which she is currently chairman. 

== Education ==

She graduated from Durham University.

== Notable Work ==

After graduating from University Baroness Donaghy worked at the Institute of Education, University of Lon-don as an Assistant Registrar and later as Permanent Secretary to the Students’ Union. She became active in the Trade Union NALGO,UNISON when she became a member of its National Executive Council in 1973, she left this role in 2000. She became TUC President in 2000. In 2000 she left her positions in trade unions and joined the Committee on Standards in Public Life between 2001-2007. Between 2006-09 she was the Non-Executive Director of King’s College Hospital. She was the Chair on the Inquiry into Construction on Standards on Public Life from 2007-09 and is currently the Acting Chair on the Committee on Standards in Public Life. 

She was awarded the OBE in 1998 for services to industrial relations, and CBE in 2005 for services to em-ployment relations. She has Honorary Doctorates from the Open University (2003), Keele University (2004) and the University of Greenwich (2005). In 2003 she was awarded a Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, followed in 2004 by Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA).
