Editing European Youth Capital

Each year, one European city is awarded the title of “European Youth Capital” by the European Youth Forum. During this period the city hosts a variety of youth actions related to culture, sports and finance. 

The initiative promotes the implementation of different ideas and innovative projects regarding the active participation of young people in society, and aims to offer a role model for the further development of youth policies in other European municipalities and regions.
This year the Romanian city Cluj-Napoca has been selected to be the European Youth Capital. Cluj- Napoca (known simply as Cluj) is the second most populated city after the capital Bucharest in Romania. It is also famous to be the student city of Romania, welcoming thousands of international students every year. 

As part of the program many cultural events will take place in the city during the year. One of the most anticipated is The Untold Festival- 4 days filled with ‘magic and untold stories, with sound lights and effects never before seen in Romania, alongside some of the best artists in the world such as Avicii and David Guetta.’

Another interesting event is ArtforAll, which provides a series of art exhibitions and open studios for the general public. The ArtforAll event focuses primarily on the contemporary art scene and promoting young emerging artists. As a result it provides many different young artists with the opportunity to exhibit work in a non-conventional art space.

The team behind European Youth Capital Cluj-Napoca 2015 has prepared a lot more events and surprises in collaboration with its international partners. 

Next year the European Youth Capital will be Ganja, Azerbaijan’s second biggest city.
