Simon Busuttil is the Leader of the Opposition in Malta and Leader of the Nationalist Party of Malta. He was a Member of the European Parliament from Malta from 2004 through 2013. A lawyer by profession, he specialised in European Affairs and has followed EU affairs since 1994. Political Career
Simon Busuttil is the Leader of the Opposition in Malta and Leader of the Nationalist Party of Malta. He was a Member of the European Parliament from Malta from 2004 through 2013. A lawyer by profession, he specialised in European Affairs and has followed EU affairs since 1994. As a MEP he led the European People's Party (EPP) in the Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committee and covers issues that include the common European immigration and asylum policy. In 2012 he was elected Deputy Leader of the Nationalist Party. In the 2013 election, he was elected an MP of the Maltese Parliament. Other roles he hold are:

Education
He became a Doctor of Laws from the University of Malta in 1993. He got a MA in European Studies from the University of Sussex,UK in 1994. He became a Magister Juris in International Law from the University of Malta in 1995.
