Marit Maij was born on the 16th of January 1972 in Apeldoorn. She is a politician in the Dutch House of Representatives for the Labour Party (PvdA).

Political career

In 1994 she was an intern at the European Commission. Between 1994 and 1996, she was an assistant in the CDA-fraction in the European Parliament. Between 1996 and 2012 she worked for the Embassies in San José, Costa Rica and Beijing.

Education

In 1994 she became a doctor in Political Sciences at the University of Amsterdam. She also completed an MBA program at the European University.
