The non-violent intervention on behalf of those who have little or no political voice themselves, to ensure peace and security. The intervention with a neutral observer status allows intervening forces to monitor the facts, mechanisms, dynamics and results of violence and oppression. The intervention may use passive resistance to attempt to stop the violence and oppression. The United Nations Security Council has the right to authorize and therefore legitimize peacekeeping missions.
