About Lukoil[edit]
Lukoil is one of the world’s largest vertically integrated companies for crude, oil and gas production with headquarters located in Moscow, Russia. The company’s main activities are oil exploration and production, refining, distribution, and marketing. It owns refineries, gas processing, petrochemical plants and gas station networks in Russia, Africa as well as in Western and Eastern Europe. The Company’s petroleum products are sold worldwide. The overall capacity of the Russian oil refineries of Lukoil Group at the end of 2012 was 45.7 mln tons per year (335 mln barrels per year) (Statoil, 2014).
Engagement in Cultural Diplomacy[edit]
Lukoil is engaged in various activities related to cultural diplomacy such as music, arts, and sport through organizing and sponsoring various events. The company is also involved in various social and charity programs. For instance, in 2012, The Lukoil Charity Fund and the Nizhny Novgorod Art Museum started “We've Found Talents” arts and educational project with the main aim to help talented foster children aged 13 to 16 discover and develop their talents. In the same year, a similar project - “World through the Children’s Eyes” was initiated in Perm.

Grants and Scholarships[edit]
Starting in 2000, the Company established personal scholarships for the most gifted university students from oil and gas universities and institutes. Currently, 200 students from different cities countrywide receive Lukoil’s corporate monthly scholarships of 2,500 and 3,000 rubles. Since 2006, the LUKOIL Charity Fund has offered personal LUKOIL scholarships to the graduates of the sponsored foster homes who study in higher and secondary educational institutions. Fifty-one graduates earned such scholarships in 2012 (Lukoil,2014).
Cooperation with Universities[edit]
Lukoil sponsors various universities offering training to oil and gas specialists (for instance, Ukhta State Technical University, Lomonosov Moscow State University , and Azerbaijan State Oil Academy ).

Promoting Human- and Civil Rights[edit]
‘’Lukoil acknowledges the basic human rights and undertakes to operate in accordance with the provisions of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights’’ (Lukoil,2014).
Activities in the Field of Humanitarian Aid[edit]
Lukoil emphasizes children as its top priority. The Company supports children through various sponsorship programs as well as children and youth cultural and sport programs. For more than 20 years company has been sponsoring a number of orphanages in the Komi Republic, Astrakhan, Kirov, Saratov, Western Siberia, Volgograd, Saint Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Perm Krai and other regions. The Company helps them to graduate, receive education, improve their health, choose a profession and find their place in life. Given the children's limited opportunities due to lack of parental care, not only does the Company allocate funds to maintain the facilities of specialized child care institutions, but also seeks to become directly involved in the children’s lives, by ensuring that they adjust to the social environments they will find themselves in after they leave their orphanage or foster home. The Company sponsors children’s annual holidays at the sea coast, educational tourist trips across the country and purchases New Year's presents for all of the children.
Supporting Music and Visual Arts[edit]
The company has been sponsoring the Tchaikovsky Grand Philharmonic Orchestra for over 20 years. Significant projects got an opportunity to be realised thanks to that. The orchestra’s tour routes are extremely diverse. In this way, performances in the best concert halls of many countries, including Austria, Switzerland, France, Japan, Spain, Italy, Latvia, Belarus, Holland, Belgium, England and Poland, have become a tradition.
Lukoil is also the official partner of the “Spasskaya Tower“ traditional festival of military bands in Red Square. Moreover, the following events have been supported in 2011 and 2012; the “Crescendo” music festival; the M.Magomayev 2nd International Contest of Vocalists; the 2nd International Musical Charity Project entitled “The Golden Harp”; the festival of Caucasian Art, entitled “Big Caucasus”, in Perm Krai.
Lukoil actively supports a number of major national museums in Russia, including the Moscow Kremlin Museum, The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, the Tretyakov Gallery, the State Historical Museum, the State Russian Museum and the V.M and A.M Vasnetsovs Vyatka Regional Art Museum.
There are several cultural events Lukoil has facilitated and supported in 2011 and 2012. These include the State Tretyakov Gallery - the exhibitions “What is the Truth? Nikolay Ge. Celebrating the 180th Anniversary of the Artist’s Birth” and “Konstantin Korovin, and so forth.
Supporting Sports[edit]
The Nationwide Charity Program ‘’Believe in yourself!’’ has been implemented by The Lukoil Sports jointly with the leading Russian athletes, professional sports clubs, sports veterans in 2009. The goal pursued by the project was to promote a healthy lifestyle among students and schoolchildren.
Lukoil sponsors summer and winter sporting events in all regions where it operates because the company cares about the health of its employees. Thus, the first Spartakiade was held in 2001 in Astrakhan. Moreover, the company regularly holds family competitions called ‘’ Dad, Mom and Me – we are a Sports Family!’’ The latest competition was held In June 2013, where 39 family teams from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Bulgaria, Finland and Romania took participation.
