William Bradley “Brad” Pitt was born on the 18th December, 1963 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He is best known for being a Hollywood actor and filmmaker. His illustrious career spans two decades and during that time he was awarded with a Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and three Academy Award nominations for his acting endeavors. His first leading role came in the film A River Runs Through It in 1992 and since then has featured in a number of blockbuster hits including: Seven, Fight Club, Ocean’s Eleven, Troy, Mr & Mrs Smith, World War Z, Moneyball and 12 Years a Slave. He is married to actress Angelina Jolie with whom he shares six children, three of them adopted.

Humanitarian Causes[edit]
Brad Pitt has a number of affiliations with humanitarian causes and charitable foundations around the world. One topic that he holds dearly is embryonic stem-cell research, which he supported by endorsing ‘Proposition 71’, a California ballot initiative intended to provide state government funding for research. He stated that “We have to make sure that we open up these avenues so that our best and our brightest can go and find these cures that they believe they will find.” Brad Pitt is also a major supporter of the One Campaign, an initiative aimed at combating AIDS and poverty in the developing world. Furthermore, with the support of major celebrities including George Clooney and Matt Damon, Pitt is one of the founders of Not On Our Watch, raising awareness for stopping mass atrocities.
Philanthropic Donations[edit]
In May 2007, Brad ,and wife Angelina Jolie donated over $1 million to help with the crisis in the Darfur region. Moreover, the Philanthropic couple have set up the [Jolie-Pitt Foundation to help a number of Humanitarian causes around the globe. Initial donations from the couple of $1 million were made each to the Global Action for Children and Doctors Without Borders. In 2009, the Foundation donated a further $1million to the U.N refugee agency with the aim of helping Pakistanis displaced by fighting national troops and the Taliban. In 2006 alone, the couple donated $8million to charity.
Notable Actions[edit]
Of note, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie took time to help American rapper Wyclef Jean in his Clean Streets Project based in Haiti after the natural disaster. Furthermore, He took part in the ‘America: A Tribute to Heroes’ charity telethon for victims of 9/11.
