Charles Philip Arthur George was born on the 14th November 1948 and is the eldest child and heir apparent of Queen Elisabeth II. He is the longest serving heir apparent in British History, having held the position since 1952. He was educated at Cheam and Gordonstoun schools. He subsequently went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Trinity College Cambridge. After he finished at Cambridge he went on to serve in the Royal Navy from 1971 to 1976. He has also authored a number of books including A Vision of Britain: a Personal View of Architecture in 1989 and the Children’s book The Old Man of Lochnagar in 1980.

Engagement in Cultural Diplomacy[edit]
Charles uses his tours of the Commonwealth Countries to attract attention towards issues concerning the youth, the disabled, the environment, the arts, medicine, the elderly, heritage conservation and education. In Canada in 1998, Charles took part in the ceremonies marking the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
Humanitarian Causes[edit]
In 1976, Charles founded the Prince’s Trust in order to help young people. The trust runs a number of training programs which provide mentoring support and offer financial grants to build the confidence and motivation of disadvantaged young people’s. The Trust tends to support around 50,000 young people every year with around 80% moving on to Employment, Education, Training or Volunteering. The Prince’s Trust aims to work with young people from four priority target groups. These include the long-term unemployed, people who have been in trouble with the law, people who are in difficulty at school and people who have been in care. Along with the Princes Trust, Charles has established more than sixteen charitable organisations which raises over £100 million annually.
