Michael Fraser Weir was born on the 24th March 1957 and was brought up in Arbroath. He has been a Scottish National Party (SNP) MP for Angus, Scotland since 2001.
Political career[edit]
Mike was elected to Westminster for the old Angus seat in 2001. He was elected to the substantially re drawn Angus seat in 2005, tripling his majority. He was then re-elected in 2010 and doubled his majority.
Mike is currently Westminster spokesperson on Energy and Climate Change and Business, Innovation and Skills.
Education[edit]
Mike studied law at Aberdeen University and then went on to complete an apprenticeship in Montrose and work as a solicitor in Kirkcaldy, Montrose and Brechin, where he was a partner in J&DG Sheill.
