Political Career[edit]
Nigel Keith Anthony Standish Vaz, known as Keith Vaz (born 26 November 1956), is a British Labour Party politician and has been Member of Parliament for Leicester East since 1987. He is the longest-serving Asian MP and has been the Chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee since July 2007. He was appointed as a member of the Privy Council in June 2006. He has been named among the most influential Asians in Britain.
