Gilles Baum has been a member of the Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies since 2013. He represents the Democratic Party (Demokretisch Partei) in the East Constituency.

He has been a member of the Democratic Party since 1996. He was deputy burgermaster from 2003 to 2005 and Councelor of Junglister from 2005 to 2013. Since 2013 he has been a member of the Commission on Environment, a member of the Commission on Sustainable Development, a member of the Commission on National Education, Childhood and Youth, President of the Commission on Family and Integration and a deputy member of the Luxembourg Delegation to the Interregional Parlamentarian Council (CPI).
