Pia Dijkstra was born on the 9th of December 1954 in Franeker. She is a member of the Dutch House of Representatives on behalf of the Democrats 66 Party. (D66).

Before her political career, Dijkstra was a radioproducer, programme maker and presenter on radio and television.

Dijkstra studied theology at the University of Amsterdam. This was uncompleted.
