Marit Maij was born on the 16th of January 1972 in Apeldoorn. She is a politician in the Dutch House of Representatives for the Labour Party (PvdA).

Political career[edit]

In 1994 she was an intern at the European Commission. Between 1994 and 1996, she was an assistant in the CDA-fraction in the European Parliament. Between 1996 and 2012 she worked for the Embassies in San José, Costa Rica and Beijing.

Education[edit]

In 1994 she gained a doctorate in Political Sciences at the University of Amsterdam. She also completed an MBA program at the European University.
