Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici was born in Floriana on 17 February 1960. He is today a member of the Nationalist Party and a member of the Foreign and European Affairs Committee.
Political career[edit]
Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici was elected to Parliament for the Nationalist Party in 1998. The same year he was appointed Chairman of Committees and became permanent member of a number of other committees including the Standing Committee on Privileges and the Standing Committee on the Consideration of Laws.
Between October 2001 and March 2003 he was a member of the Malta Environment and Planning Authority. In April 2003, he was appointed Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs.
In March 2004, Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici was re-confirmed as Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry for Justice and Home Affairs. On being re-elected following the 2008 General Elections he was appointed Minister for Justice and Home Affairs.
