Baroness Bakewell is a Labour Party member who joined the House of Lords in January 2011. From the 1950s to 1970s she worked primarily for the BBC. She then became a columnist for several UK newspapers.

Political Career[edit]

She currently sits on the Communications Committee. Her main policy focuses include; crime, civil law, justice and rights, culture, media, sport, health services and medicine.

Education[edit]

She attended Stockport High School for Girls before studying and Newham College, Cambridge University where she graduated in Economics and History.
