Deirdre Clune was born on the 1st of June, 1959 in Cork, Ireland.
Political Career
Clune used to be Senator and Seanad Spokesperson on Enterprise, Jobs & Innovation. Additionally, she was elected to the European Parliament on May, 2014. She is a full member of the Transport & Tourism, substitute on Employment & Social Affairs committee. She was elected to the Dáil in 1997 at her first attempt. Clune was the Fine Gael Spokesperson on Environmental Information and Protection, and Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands. She became the third generation of her family to hold the mayoralty in Cork, following in the footsteps of her father, Peter who was Lord Mayor of Cork in 1970-71 and her late grandfather, Anthony who was Lord Mayor in 1960-61.

She graduated from the University College Cork and Trinity College, Dublin

She was involved in the enforcement of the Youth Gurantee Scheme which is vital in tackling youth unemployment
