Hildegarde Naughton was born in 1977 in Oranmore, Ireland. She is currently a primary school teacher as well as a senator representing the Fine Gael Party.
Political Career[edit]
In the 2009 local elections, Hildegarde Naughton was able to unseat the favourite John Mulholland and gain a seat in the city's West electoral arena. After her victory at the election, Naughton was made a director on Galway City Partnership Board. She was also a member of the Galway City Vocational Education Committee as well as Galway City Council's Transport Strategic Policy Committee. She was made mayor of Galway in 2011-2012. In July 2013, she was appointed to the Senate in order to replace Martin Mcaleese who had recently resigned from the Irish Upper House (Seanad Eireann).

Naughton is able to speak fluent French.
Notable Work[edit]
In 2007, Naughton was responsible for coordinating the 2007 Telethon People in Need Campaign for Galway City and Council. The Campaign was a success as it managed to raise over 300,000 Euros for charities in the local area. Another notable achievement of Naughton's is that she is a classically trained soprano. In 2008 she won the Best Actress award for her role as Eliza Doolittle in the Galway Patrician Musical Societies production of 'My Fair Lady'.
