Josip Benčić was born on 28 June 1961 in Karlovac, Croatia. He is a member of the Social Democratic Party of Croatia (SDP; Croatian: Socijaldemokratska partija Hrvatske) and was a member of the Croatian Parliament (Hrvatski sabor).
Political Career[edit]
Benčić's term as the member of the Croatian Parliament began on 23 December 2011 as a substitute for Slavko Linić. His term of office ceased on 15 May 2014 upon termination of the suspension of Slavko Linić. His previous parliamentary functions consisted of being a member of Elections, Appointments and Administration Committee, the Finance and Central Budget Committee, and the War Veterans Committee.

Benčić graduated from the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb, Croatia.
