Biography[edit]
Rubén Arosemena Valdés has occupied different positions in the Democrata Cristiano party and the Popular Party and was the alternate representative of the village of Bella Vista. From 1989 to 1994, he was Deputy Ruler (Legislador Suplente) of the 8-8 circuit. Soon after, he was appointed as Chief Legislator (Legislador Principal) until 2009. During his political career he has been President of the National Assembly, Secretary General of the National Assembly, and President of the legislative committee of Government and Justice. He has also been Committee member for the Environment, Budget, Foreign Affairs, Trade and Industry and Credentials, Vice President during the term of Martín Torrijos, Administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority, and Secretary General of the Operational Regional Cooperation Network of Maritime Authorities.
