In 2013 Maurizio Gasparri was elected senator of the XVII Legislature of the Italian Republic in the constituency of Lazio for the Popolo della Libertà party. As a Senator, he is member of the 4th Permanent Commission on Defence, as well as member of the Parliamentary Commission for the General Guidance and Supervision of Broadcasting Services.
