She was born in Pamplona on July the 5th 1964. She studied journalism in the University of Navarra and worked for several years in the field, taking up some positions in RNE and TVE (the state run television and radio stations), ETB ("Vasc Television") and the newspaper "Navarra Hoy". She then became involved with politics after the creation of the nationalist party Nafarroa Bai ("Yes to Navarre"). In 2004 Uxue Barkos was signaled to take up the position of parlamentarian in Madrid in representation of this party. In 2011 she renewed her position as parlamentarian under the wing of a newborn coalition, Geroa Bai.
