He currently serves as a deputy at the Portuguese National Assembly elected for the Socialist Party by the constituency of Lisbon. He has served previously from 2005 to 2009, X Legislature, elected by the constituency of Beja. Moreover, he is president of the Lisbons Federation of the Socialist Party. He served as deputy minister of the Parliamentarian Affairs and as Chief of the Interior Secretary of State´s Office.
