Benoît Friart, born in Haine-Saint-Paul on June 3, 1951, is a Belgian entrepreneur and MR politician. Friart was born into a family of brewers (St-Feuillien, Le Rœulx).

Political Career[edit]

Friart was appointed mayor of Rœulx, where his party IC (Intérets Communaux, a local union of CDH and MR) won the majority in the 2006 elections. He was the successor of Albert Tesain who was mayor since 1985. In 2012, Friart won again with IC and the party obtained 15 of the 19 seats, an overwhelming majority.

Education and Early Career[edit]

Friart graduated in 1974 in Economics at the Catholic University Faculties of Mons (Fucam). After his military service, initial experience in the brewery business and experiences in other companies, he was made head of the family brewery.
