Raoul Hedebouw, born in Liège (Belgium) on July 12, 1977, is a Belgian biologist and Marxist WPB/PTB politician. Hedebouw grew up in a working-class neighborhood in Herstal. His parents came from Flanders and were steelworkers who were active in the Christian Union CSC.
Political Career[edit]
Hedebouw became politically active in 1996 during the student strikes against Minister Michel Lebrun, where he led the "Herstal Student Committee". He then became active in the WPB party, where he is still a spokesperson. During the local elections in October 2012, he was elected Councilor of Liège and after the federal elections of May 2014, he was elected as representative of Liege as well.
Education[edit]
After his secondary studies in Herstal, Hedebouw studied Biology at the University of Liege.
