Yannick Botrel was born on the 9th December, 1951. He has been a socialist senator within the French Senate since 2008, representing the Côtes-d'Armor department. He was re-elected in September 2014.
Political Career[edit]
Botrel, being a poultry farmer, started his political career as a city councillor in 1977. In 1995, he was elected mayor of Bourbriac. After that first election, Yannick Botrel was reelected both in 2001 and 2008 and was mayor of Bourbriac until 2014. Furthermore, Yannick Botrel was Vice-President of the General Council of Côtes-d'Armor from 1998 to 2008, and held the position of General Councillor for nine years since 1992. Finally, his direct relationship with the sphere of agriculture has had an influence on him, and Botrel has become a member of the Study Group on the Sea and the Littoral and of the High Council of Prestations Sociales Agricoles. He is also the president of the departmental syndicate of Nutrition and Drinking Water.
Education[edit]
Yannick Botrel has defined himself as someone who is passionate about archeology and thus, his contribution was crucial to the creation of the magazine 'Histoire et Archéologie du pays d'Argoat'. He has published and contributed to other works, such as the co-publication with François Diridollou of a recopilation of ancient letters and cards within their book Bourbriac Autrefois.
