Aivar Sõerd (born 22nd of November 1964 in Haapsalu) is an Estonian politician and government official.
Political Career[edit]
From the 13th of January 1999 until 2003, Sõerd was the Director General of the Estonian Tax Board. On July 18, 2003 the Minister of Finance appointed Tõnis Palts as Director General of Tax Administration, and Aivar Sõerd had to undergo disciplinary action and was removed from office. On 8 May 2007 he joined the hotel chain Tallink Hotels as their CEO.
In January 2010, the council chose the Estonian People's Union party's new board. Sõerd was elected back to the board. On 12 March 2010, he announced his resignation from joining the Reform Party and the People's Union. He was nominated for the 2014 European Parliament elections in Estonia with 156 votes.

Aivar Sõerd graduated from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Tartu in 1990 and studied at the University of Oulu from 1994 to 1996
