Deneš Šoja was born on 8 April 1943 in Kneževi Vinogradi. He is an independent member of the Croatian Parliament and Kneževi Vinogradi County Mayor.
Political Career[edit]
Šoja's parliamentary mandate began on 22 December 2011. The suspension of his term of office started on 1 April 2014 with Šandor Juhas as his substitute. Previous parliamentary functions consisted of him being a member of the Local and Regional Self-government Committee and the Committee on Human and National Minority Rights.
Special achievements[edit]
In 2006 the Government of the Republic of Hungary presented him with the Minority Award for his contribution for the minority rights protection and the successful management of the municipality with a majority of Hungarian inhabitants. In 2007 The Foundation for Hungarians outside the Republic of Hungary handed him an acknowledgment his work in protecting the interests of Hungarians in the Drava Triangle. In 2008 he was chosen as one of the twelve best performing county mayors of the former Yugoslavian countries.
Education[edit]
Šoja graduated from the Faculty of Economics in Osijek where he also obtained his Master of Science degree in Public Finances.
