Peter Leonard Brooke was born on the 3rd March 1934. He is a British politician who is a member of the Conservative Party.

Political Career[edit]

Brooke served in the cabinet under the Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher and John Major. In 1977, he was elected as the MP for the Cities of London and Westminster. In 1987, he was made Chairman of the Conservative Party. After a short period on the backbenches in 1992, Brooke was brought back into the cabinet and made Secretary of State for National Heritage. As the Secretary of State for National Heritage, he was responsible for overseeing the restoration of Windsor Castle. Brooke decided to step down as an MP in 2001 and was made a life peer as Baron Brooke of Sutton Mandeville in the County of Wiltshire in October.

Education[edit]

He was educated at Marlborough College and Balliol College, Oxford. Subsequently he went on to study at Harvard Business School.
