Francesc Antich Oliver was born in Caracas in 1958. He is a Spanish politician from the Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE).
Political Career[edit]
He was the mayor of Algaida ( Mallorca) between 1991 and 1997. In 1995 he obtained a seat in the Balearic Parliament and became the Envirnonment counsillor. In 1998 he was the designated candidate to run for the presidency of the Balearic Government during the 1999 elections. Through a coalition with other left wing parties, he became president of the Balearic islands. During his legislature, he focused in the areas of health, eduction and environment. In 2004, he was elected as a deputy to the Congress and in 2007 he became president of the Islands for a second time (2007-2011). In 2011 he became a senator at the Parliament for the Balearic Islands.
