Béla Bugár (born 7 July 1958) is a Slovak politician of Hungarian ethnicity. He has been a member of the Slovak parliament since 1992, in 2006 he was also its acting Speaker. He is the leader of the political party Most-Híd.

Political career[edit]

At present he is the member of Klub MOST-HÍD, Committee on Human Rights and Minorities and the Special Control Committee for the Control of Activities of the Slovak Intelligence Service. He was the leader of party of the Hungarian Coalition (MKP-SMK) from 1998 until 2007, with Pál Csáky. Before the formation of the Party of the Hungarian Coalition in 1998, Bugar was the chairman of the Hungarian Christian Democratic Movement. Bugar has been an member of the National Council of the Slovak Republic since 1992. He was its acting speaker from 7 February 2006 to 4 July 2006. Béla Bugár wanted to retire from politics by 2010, but instead founded a new political party, Most-Híd, whose goal is to stand for the Hungarians' interests in Slovakia.

Education[edit]

In 1982 he graduated at the Slovak Technical University and became an engineer.

Notable work[edit]

He is fighting for the interest of the Hungarian minority in Slovakia, when still tries to cooperate with the Slovaks.
