Wolfgang Gehrcke Reymann, born September 8, 1943 in Reichau, is a German politician (The Left ). He was vice-chairman of the PDS parliamentary party from 1998 to 2002.
Political Career[edit]
In 1961 Gehrcke became a member of the banned Communist Party after his expulsion from the SPD. He was co-founder of the Socialist German Workers' Youth and a deputy there from 1968 to 1974 ( SDAJ ) from 1974 to 1979 he was the National Chairman. Wolfgang Gehrcke was also an active member in founding the German Communist Party (DKP). From 1973 to 1989 he was a leading party member. In 1990 Wolfgang Gehrcke left the DKP and became a member of the PDS. From 1991 to 1993 Gehrcke was national director of the PDS and from 1993 until 1998 he was a Deputy National Chairman of PDS. Gehrcke has been a member of the national leadership of the PDS since October 2002 and from June 2007 to 2012 a member of the national leadership of the party Die Linke .
Education[edit]
After attending elementary school Gehrcke completed an administration course from 1959 to 1961 and then worked as an administrative clerk at the Federal Employment Service. From 1968 he worked in publishing and as a journalist.
