Jacques F. Poos was born on 3rd of June 1935. He is a former Luxembourgian politicians and member of the European Parliament.
Political Career[edit]
Poos was appointed as Minister of Finance in 1976 and also held Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 1985, 1991 and 1997 during his time as Foreign Minister of Luxembourg. In 1999, he was elected as Member of the European Parliament, where he worked as part of the Committee for Foreign Affairs, Human Rights, Common Security and Defense Policy. He retired from his political career but still works in the boards of different national and international institutions and companies.

Poos graduated from University of Lausanne in 1961 with a doctor of economics. In 2003, he received an honorary doctor of law degree from Panteion University of Athens, Greece.
