Filip Dewinter (born 11 September 1962) is a Belgian (Flemish) politician. He is one of the leading members of Vlaams Belang, a right-wing Flemish nationalist and secessionist political party.
Political career[edit]
In November 1987, he was elected member of the Belgian parliament. In 1988, he also became a City councillor for Antwerp. When the Flemish Parliament and Belgian Parliament were elected separately in 1995, he chose to be a member of the Flemish Parliament. In 2014, after 9 years in the Flemish Parliament, De Winter returned to the Belgian Parliament.
