Nicola Claire Blackwood (born 16 October 1979) is a Conservative Party politician. She was elected as Member of Parliament for Oxford West and Abingdon in the 2010 election.
Political Career[edit]
Nicola Blackwood began her political career when she was elected as the Member of Parliament for Oxford West and Abingdon. She has been actively involved in the Conservative Party Human Rights Commission, as its Vice Chair and is an active member of the influential Home Affairs Select Committee. She is also Parliamentary Private Secretary to Matthew Hancock MP, Minister of State for Skills and Enterprise at the Department Business, Innovation and Skills and the Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Women, Peace and Security.
Education[edit]
Nicola Blackwood was trained as a classical singer at Trinity College of Music from the age of 14 (and home schooled for her GCSE's and A-Levels in Oxford) before gaining a First in Music at St Anne's College and an M.Phil. in Musicology from Emmanuel College, Cambridge.
